Peter Helleur has done a new build and renovation/s for me in Newcastle with outstanding results. Both properties presented significant challenges due to heritage considerations and awkward site conditions and access.

On the first project I was able to trust Peter’s acute eye for detail and sound understanding of my style as well as his integrity and commitment to the brief. I was in Canberra at the time managing the project from afar and we worked together in person and over the phone to meet a fixed deadline.

Peter kept me up to date with progress and ‘called with solutions not just problems’ as issues inevitably arose as they do with old houses. Peter also gently guided me to better outcomes at times where my ideas didn’t suit the actual situation and I’m thrilled with those suggestions. I live in a delightful contemporary open space integrated into an old and quirky 1885 terrace house. Light, charm and practicality converge and pay homage to original timbers and old bricks.

The second project had a tight timeframe and required liaison with a body corporate entity as well as the usual local government and building accreditations. A drab flat was transformed into a light filled and elegant apartment that literally now commands more than double it’s previous rental!

Peter works to a very high standard and is patient and good natured to work with. We had a laugh often and enjoyed the creative process together that is building and renovation. Peter often went above and beyond, clearly an ‘underpromise over-deliver’ ethos drives his business.

I recommend Peter to anyone considering building work on any scale as his project management is efficient and ‘on the tools’ he is a perfectionist. He’s also a really nice fellow and an absolute pleasure to work with.

Wow!……..that’s what we were left with after our experience with Helleur Building. Peter and his team helped us achieve our dream outdoor space with their work on our deck extension.
Peter personally assisted in navigating the queries of a structural engineer on our design, the requirements of a private certifying authority, and even right down to providing practical advice on design and material selection.

The Helleur Building team always arrived on time and were well mannered and respectful. They kept us informed every step of the way and let us know about any changes to plan ahead of time.
We have engaged different builders over the years for work on our place, with the usual frustrations that many other people experience (trades not turning up, fixing poor quality workmanship etc).
